I'm so disappointed in Kitchen Aid.
My $400 6 qt. Pro600 stand mixer died.. less than 3 years old.. and it only has a 1 year warrenty and the best they can do is tell me where I can go to PAY to get it fixed.. hmmm if the new one lasts less than 3 years.. why would I go throwing good money after bad.
Anyway, I'll be saving my money to get me a new mixer that is NOT a Kitchen Aid.. I can no longer recommend them.

Do you make a lot of bread? I have a friend who makes bread daily and her mixer just couldn't hold up. She went through ( I think ) 6 machines and finally moved to a Bosch.

I have heard the same about most Kitchen Aids though I have the same one you have and the reason I bought it is that I was told this one could stand up to that kind of work. Mine is about three years old.

well I make bread a couple times a week then alot over about 2 days (I give loaves at Christmas) once a year and weeks without especially in the summer. I've been very careful to follow their directions on speed to use and length of kneading times and such.
I have heard that bosch is the way to go for a mixer that does stuff other than just bread. Better be saving my pennies

I was just commenting the other day that my KitchenAid is well over ten years old, with very regular use, and has never given me a problem. Interesting, though, I bought it on clearance. They were discontinuing the model. Now I wonder if that was code for "We are going to make a new, less durable model"? Hmmm...
I recommended one to a good friend of mine and hers only lasted about three years, proabably with much less use than I give mine. She got the same advice as Jodie, go pay and have it fixed!

Oh that is a shame to hear, but good info. I have a 20 year old Kitchen Aid that gets lots of abuse. I almost bought a new one after Christmas, as a lot of the parts on mine are getting worn (and oh so expensive to replace!)
I will need to start looking at other machines now
