I'm looking for tried and true recipes for leftover ham bones.

I already have a batch of red beans and rice in the freezer. Split Pea Soup was what I made a few weeks ago.

Any other suggestions that are wheat, egg, and dairy free? I guess I'm thinking some kind of warm-you-up soup or stew, nice and chunky. Navy Bean Soup?

What do you make with your leftover ham bones?

I've never made potato soup, mostly because I haven't found a recipe without cream or milk. Any suggestions?

hmm use a chicken broth base.. cook the potatoes in it with the ham bone.. and pull out some potatoes and mash them up for a creaminess to the soup.. basil and onion and carrot and celery and corn are really good in it.

i'm making this up I've used a white sauce lately when making potato soup.. so I suppose if you wanted it thicker you could use a corn starch to thicken the broth..

But do it more like a "vegetable soup" with a broth base.. and then just lots of potatoes.

We do Navy Beans and Ham here. MMMM. This last time, we used some of our own ham (we raised the pig, butchered and processed him ourselves). Much goodness in that pig, let me tell you (we ate a loin roast from him just yesterday--from the crockpot...and oh me oh my...scrumdiddlyumptious!).

I just made potato soup with a ham bone. MMMMMM

Stock, cubed ham, cubed potatoes, celery, carrots, onion, garlic, pepper.

I thicken it by puree 1 cup of cooked white beans with some stock.

I don't really have a recipe.
