Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'm sorting through my scrapbooking closet. Yes, I have a whole closet full of stuff. I thought I'd gather some supplies for my dc to use for projects. Everything is looking outdated to me. I haven't scrapbooked in at least a year, and now that my picture taking has gone digital (and I have so little free time), I wonder if I'll ever get back into it.

After my last vacation to Plymouth, my Dad whipped up a slide show of our trip pictures that we could all watch on TV. This method will likely be replacing my old vacation albums. I have loads of albums left undone, which I do intend to complete someday. But I wonder if future scrapbooks will be done digitally. What do think? Have you tried any digital books? Will you continue to crop, mount, decorate etc.?

I am a Creative Memories consultant and I can say that people either LOVE digital scrapbooking or LOVE traditional scrapbooking, very rarely is that any middle ground. I prefer traditional, but am glad that CM offers digital also.

Cheryl,

This is something that I have struggled with also. I think I have scrapbooked once in the last two years. I did take a bunch of scrapbooking stuff to a thrift shop recently, it was all outdated stickers and papers.

Last year after our trip to California I made my mom and sister a scrapbook on Shutterfly. They loved it! I loved the convience and lack of mess.

I have a few scrap packs that I bought from CM last year (I was still collecting just not scrapbooking) and printed pictures, I plan to put those in the unused albums I have purchased over the years.    After that, I think I will go digital. I have uploaded most of my pictures to Shutterfly. A CM consultant friend told me their digital is now Mac friendly, so I'll take a look at it.

I loved all the cropping and cutting of scrapbooking, but even more, I love the finished project. I like that with my laptop I can sit on the couch with dh, watch a movie and scrapbook at the same time. (I'm a mom that likes to multi-task, especially sitting down )

I haven't scrapbooked in at least 3 years and I had lots to catch up on at that time. We went digital camera before then as well. I know I'll be going digital scrapbooking sometime in the future but I have no idea when I'll have the time for that even. For now all my scrapbooking supplies sit in a closet...waiting. I was thinking of getting some of it out and letting my girls play with it.

Here is a post from the last time we discussed this. And, I will just let everyone know, I did not meet my goal of using up the albums that I already have. Not ONE page got done in the last year.

Funny, I am going to a friend's to scrapbook this weekened for the first time in a year, and before that it was about a year as well since I'd done any work on my albums.

I think I will always keep some kind of paper album--actual photo prints--but I probably will choose more selectively in the future which ones to print and which to just keep on disc/hard drive.

I love the really old photo albums where a person's whole life could be summed up in just a few pages--at most a single album's worth--of photos. My mother made an album of her favorite photos (about 60 years' worth) and offered all the remaining photos she didn't use to me.

It is still fun to look back over the snapshots of fun times that aren't as consequential, but I may just start keeping those kinds of prints in photo box instead of an album. The kinds of photos that I wouldn't mind throwing away (or my kids throwing them away) someday.

When I am making a scrapbook now, I remind myself that I am not making a work of art expected to last through a millennia--only a collection of memories to entertain myself, my family and a generation or two of my descendants perhaps, that will not be preserved in the Smithsonian!

At least, that's my take on it.

I like the digital photobooks in theory, but the CM versions I have seen done by a friend who is a consultant are not to my taste at all aesthetically. I suppose you can tinker them to your heart's content, but I really don't want to spend MORE time on the computer. One thing I like about the process of paper scrapbooking is the tactileness of it. Click and drag just isn't as fun for me.

Still haven't finished child #2's baby book, btw.... I stopped somewhere around 2003 (birth of child #3) and lost my groove.

It's funny that we discussed this last January. I didn't even remember. And Mary Chris, I didn't meet my goal either. I said I was going to make my blog into book form last summer. Oh well.

I'm planning on scrapbooking with my sister one Sunday in February. I think I'll try to finish some of the albums that are close to being done. I may let my dc get the Christmas album current. I think that having a project to do in the afternoon is good motivation for some of the dc to do their school work quickly. And they really like to scrapbook.
