I'm interested in making some homemade soaps, but I don't want to invest an arm and a leg into it before I get going great guns...

So, where are the good deals? What do you recommend for beginners? I've got books and some (most) of the equipment I need, it's the lye, etc, that I would want to use.

I don't have time to do the searches before the board closes for Sunday, but I do know there have been a couple past threads on making soap that would be helpful and might have the specific information you are asking. So you could check the search function even after the boards close.
