Here's the recipe for hot-buttered rum batter that I used to make all the time in my post-undergrad days (aka, the FIRST time I lived in Virginia). It is so yummy -- and tummy warming.
Enjoy!

Mary, we were just talking of Hot Buttered Rum last night! It was COLD down here. In the 50's with a whipping wind (over 20 knots easy). I actually turned on the heater in my car for the very first time ever.
Your recipe looks delicious!

neat I've never seen one that uses ice cream in it. The one I came up with after looking over a number of recipes has brown sugar, butter, lemon juice, and spices

The temperature here dropped to just above freezing last night! This sounds like a great remedy for this brisk weather.

That's what makes this one so creamy ... and pouring boiling water over the frozen batter gets the drink drinkable right away to warm the hands and the tummy!

Sounds great! Would have come in handy last night. We were outside admiring the most amazing northern lights display I've ever seen, truly spectacular, with temps hovering around negative five...

Totally worth freezing our buns off to see, but a warm drink would have made it perfect!

This looks so good. I'm going to have to try it. It's getting pretty nippy here at night.
Gorgeous northern lights!
