We drink ALOT of suntea (sweet, of course!) in the summertime. However, I can not find a glass suntea jar (screw on lid, spout at the bottom) that actually works. My parents have had theirs for over 20 years. The ones I buy at Target, Walmart etc last about 2 weeks then the rubber push thing in the spout pops out, or the whole thing starts to leak.
What do you use for suntea? Do you know where I can buy a high quality container that will last??

I picked up a Martha one at KMart 5 years ago. It seems to work great, Jennifer. I don't do sweet tea though, could the sugar be messing things up?

Lehmans has a Ball jar with a spigot; it says not to put boiling water in it or it might crack. But heating up from the sun maybe different?

Oh, gosh!
I've been wanting to find a good sun tea jar, and this post made me remember that, so I googled it. One of the first things that came up was this warning that sun tea can harbor bacteria!
I thought since the link was to "Snopes" that it would just be a false rumor, nothing true--but apparently it IS true that sun tea can make you sick! 
Just something to be aware of, I guess.

Red: Thanks for that link!! We are careful about leaving our tea out only 2-3 hours and drinking it within 24 hours. No illness so far!!
I found this container at PrettyWood Tea. I don't know if I'm ready to spend $50 for a tea jug, though.

I always make my suntea in Mason jars. LOL It's the way my grandma always made it and any other way doesn't taste as good.

I'm moving towards using Lipton's Cold Brew. THe last couple of days that I've made suntea, it has a yucky green-bean like taste and it's cloudy  . I think maybe we've left it out too long. I would think being in our 107 temps in Texas, that bacteria wouldn't stand a chance, but obviously I am wrong about that!

I got a clear plastic pitcher to make our sun tea in. I have also used the gallon size pickle jars.
I don't like the jugs with the spout because they keep getting all black and disgusting. After working in fast food and having to bleach the drink spouts every night, I decided that I don't want that for my family.

We have 'cold-brewed' reg tea in the fridge overnight...I don't like to set plastic in the sun to heat, and it is not really safe to set anything glass outside when the kids are playing outside. The tea was fine for us, but I don't drink a lot of iced black tea, and never tried the Cold Brew, so I can't promise it is as good, and it does take all night.
