I just found this 5 minute skirt tutorial over at Angry Chicken.
5 minute skirt
It looks so easy even I could do it! And, it is inspiring me to get my sewing machine unpacked!Has anyone else worked with Fold-over elastic? Is it as easy as it appears to be?

I bookmarked this skirt when she published the instructions. I've never worked with this elastic but I am very curious! It sounds like a great, easy pattern.

Huh! It will take me longer than 5 minutes, that's for sure! But, it does look pretty easy....I have never used fold over elastic....

I am wondering if it will be crazy hard to hem since I don't have a serger....

you could roll a shirt tail hem that would be very close to the serged hem for size.. you wouldn't have the thread covering the edge of course.

I was thinking of trying her idea of using bias tape to hem it. I'm not sure, but it could look cute if it is a contrasting color, the same as the FOE. But would the bias tape be too stiff?

it should soften up with washing but I don't know how stiff it would be then.

Bias tape will make the hem "firm", meaning, it will cause the hem to stand away from the body. Would be cute on a little girl, not so much on grown woman. That being said, I'm going to try this pattern. I need some new skirts this fall! Thanks for posting it

That was what I was worried about. Hmmm...just have to hem it I guess.

I have used FOE on diapers. In some ways it is easier to sew than bias tape, as it has some give to it. 5 Minutes???? I don't think so. But, I am going to give it a try as I need a few more skirts.
