Does anyone use a swiffer? Do you like it? Is it worth the money? and will it clean after lots of muddy boys and a black dog who is also attracted to mud? The LFL lady mentioned on her website she thought swiffers were for people with clean houses. My husband says all the ladies at work use them and we ought to look into it. I'm sure their floors don't look like mine!

We love the Swiffer mop -- one thing we found was when the batteries wore out (they are AA and those batteries are notoriously AWOL -- they just happen to fit cd and radio players  ) and you couldn't squirt anymore, we'd just use windex and squirt that on the floor and mop.
Then, when we ran out of the swiffer pads one day, we used -- no kidding -- paper diapers that were too small for our youngest. Those work great!

I like it and it is what I use every week but I don't think it does a good job on a really dirty floor. Every now and then I have my dh do the kitchen floor his way and that doesn't include a Swiffer  Also I found they are not good to mop up spills. But I like not having to get a bucket of water and have to wring out a mop.

We like ours but it is not great for really big or sloppy messes. The best thing for us is that when we brought it home, the kids actually fought over who got to use it.

Swifters are terrific for those silly little messes that happen throughout the day...especially those silly little messes that happen just after you've mopped the floor. 
Like 5athome, I agree it is not for big messes, but my dc love to use it and they all get a turn; even the 3 yr old. She doesn't do that great of a job but...
My philosophy is: it is better to swift a little than not to swift at all.

I use a dry swifter to pick up hair in the bathrooms but what I really love is my microfiber mop. The mop has microfiber strips of cloth that velcro onto it. One is designed to use on a dry floor & one for a wet floor. You use the wet one by just running it under the faucet & wringing it out. The head pivots & you can push on it with your foot for really tough spots. I've never used any cleaning solution with it either. BTW - I'm also a huge fan of miracle cloths. I use them wet to clean mirrors & glass then I finish up with a dry cloth. They are amazing on glass cooktops. Again, no cleaning products. It's hard to believe but I never use Windex anymore. I bought the mop & cloths at Primetime Solutions.

I second Brenda for a damp mop. We got ours at Don Aslett's
Cleaning Center.
We have the Scrubbee Doo Quick Mop. I like just washing it rather than buying replacements for a swiffer.

I love the dry swiffers for dusting but they get somewhat pricey. A friend of mine came up with a way to make your own swiffer dusters to use with the swiffer duster handle. check it out. They work great, cost next to nothing to make and can go right in the wash!

I have one but haven't really used it in months. The smell from the wet swifter gave us all bad headaches.
I found a great solution for floor cleaning last week....having my dh clean them while I put ds to bed! 
It is very cost effective!!!

I used to use my swiffer with the dry and wet pads, but now I just attach my microfiber cloths to it and go! I just spray and wipe with a spray bottle filled with murphy's/water or vinegar/water.
