Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I am wondering, do most of you keep your garbage/trash can (the little ones you keep in the bathroom or kitchen - not teh 'outside' ones) "hidden"? Do you keep them inside cabinets under the kitchen/bathroom sinks?

How big is your kitchen one?

How do you handle recyclables?

How many others do you have in the house (bathroom, bedrooms, etc)?

tia,

The bathroom cans are between the toilet and the vanity except in the master bathroom. That can is under the sink, in the cabinet.

Two kitchen can is built into the cabinets. We use one for garbage and one for recycling before we sort in the garage.

A bit smaller than large kitchen garbage bag sized. I'm really not sure now large.

We don't have curbside pick up where we live. We collect cans, glass, plastic bottles in the kitchen can until the can is full, then one of the kids is asked to sort the contents of that can into the three cans in the garage. When those are full, we take them to the recycling center and dump out the cans into the big dumpsters.

Newspapers and magazines are collected in separate bins in the garage until they go to the recycling center too.

We send office paper to my husband's office for shredding in the giant truck. He pays for a flat amount of shredder time they are nowhere near using, so our bit of office paper gets swallowed up in their shredding once a month. If he's paying for it, we may as well try to use it.

nope.. storage space is at a premium here.. so the can in the bath sits out under the towels.. it would need to be a bit smaller to fit in the space around the toilet so that hasn't happened.. it works fine.

And the one in the kitchen just sits against one of the lesser used cupboards and is the full "large kitchen bag" size.. no lid either (just something else in the way and needing cleaned) Since the trash has to go out just about every day it works just fine. And I love moving it around the kitchen or even into the living room as needed.

We have a can in the garage for recyclables.. we are pretty limited in what we can actually get recycled here so it's mainly just the cans and bottles that the various kids clubs collect and can redeem at the grocery stores. (and I love this way of fundraising.. they get the money and I don't have to do the work of hauling stuff to the store and trying to run them all through the machines - they read the codes - while corraling all my littles)
