Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My dh's brother is getting married in a little less than a month. I would like to put together a gift basket (or something to that effect) with lots of different things to make their new home beautiful and comfortable. I would also like to make the majority of the things I include. I was thinking of things like; cloth napkins, embroidered hand towels, artwork for the walls, cloth grocery bags, things like that. If you were the bride and you knew this was coming (she doesn't) what would you like to receive?

Blessings,
Betsie

I'd love to receive washcloths, embroidered pillowcases, perhaps with the colors matching the bedding she's picked out and grocery bags. Each one of these gifts by themselves would be enough. I saw a cute idea on Purl Bee's blog for hand knitted washcloths presented with a bar of soap.

If they are Catholic, you may think about giving them liturgical year stuff like an Advent wreath with a note about the tradition or perhaps Jesse tree ornaments or a brides first tree ornaments.

Handmade is truly a lovely gesture.

I would DEFINITELY want to receive embroidered pillowcases, napkins, etc. Even some cute plain distowels embroidered with a design (most fabric/craft stores have iron on patterns you can stitch) would have been nice...
