I just love a good broom. There is something therapeutic for me about sweeping... the swishing sound of the broom on the floor, the simple rhythm, the peace of it- no cords, no loud noises, no trying to squeeze into hard to reach places. A good broom can go anywhere. And I can sweep at night without waking up kids.
I just splurged on a new broom and dustpan set. The broom has a padded grip and the plastic dustpan snaps onto the handle. $10 worth of mom therapy. I'm throwing out my old dented dustpan .

Melinda, will you be coming to MN anytime soon? Our entire house is tile - no carpet - and it really needs a good sweeping...

I wrote a blog post once about how much I love sweeping but I lost it. I love sweeping. I'm sort of a household cleaning tools junkie, myself. I'm not into gadgets so much as the best, most useful version of everything. I confess that I'm always sort of glad when something gets lost or worn out. We somehow lost our grout brush in our last move and I happily replaced it with a better one. This is where all my tightwad ideals really break down. I guess I make up for it in other areas . . .

I am picky ( broom snob perhaps?) I have this GREAT broad straw broom that cleans the floor in just a couple of passes...gotta love a broom that works for you instead of against you I mean it actually CLEANS the floor!
I stayed at my parents home for 2 months during some renovations we did during the winter. She has a large kitchen and a wimpy broom...it made sweeping such a chore as it barely teased the cheerios as it went over them...haha I told her I know what my next gift for her will be...and my sil will get an efficient plunger for the bathroom...oops I digress (you don't want to know why...) Our family is breaking in our extended families...I am making them more efficient one accessory at a time
God love you!

What kind of broom? The house we are moving into is all tile, and I can't stand our current broom. I just didn't realize that they could be that different!

I bought my set at Target. It was $9.99 and it was not made by Real Simple (I still haven't recovered from the Real Simple magazine article several years ago listing breast feeding as one of the top ten time wasters )
Other than that, I'm not sure what the brand is... it's green and silver, but I ripped off the packaging so quickly when I got home that now I can't remember. I didn't check to see if it was MIC, either, because I was desperate for a new broom, and that one looked like the best of the bunch.
I'm using it on my wood floors, and it does a nice job. Plus I like the snap on dust pan. I threw out my old pan and freed up some space under the kitchen sink.

I got this "Quickie" brand theater style dustpan and broom set. It is made in the USA, and dh bought it at Home Depot or Lowes. I kept losing dust pans. I presume I was throwing them away since dust pans don't typically disappear into thin air, and dh thought that this would be impossible to lose.
It is awesome, though, to not have to bend over, and the boys use it all the time to help. The broom is just their size but works better than a "toy" broom.
I also have this Casabella Ergo Broom, and now that I see its on sale, I think I'm going to get another one! Mine is 5 years old, and I'm afraid I don't always use the hook so the bristles are bent and not what htey once were.
It is the best broom, imo, you can sweep forever and never get that ache in your back--especially wonderful while pregnant. My mother came up right after my first was born, and after a week of using our broom, she bought one for herself and as a gift for her best friend when she got back home.
