Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Something for quick clean ups in the kitchen and the hardwoods. Is electric better? I need something small. Some friends were raving about a particular one and I can't remember for the life of me what it was. Thanks!

I just got an electric one called, "The Swivel Sweeper."I used a 20% off coupon at Bed, Bath, and Beyond and it ended up costing about $20.   It's pretty compact for an electric cleaner. It works really well and the kids actually fight over who gets to sweep! (We'll see how long that lasts.) We have wood floor in our kitchen and eating area so it gets used a lot and does not scratch the wood.

I used to have one of the little brooms that attaches to a long-handled dustpan. It was small and compact but not very useful for cleaning under the table. The swivel sweeper just glides right under our long farmhouse table and cleans up all of the mess!

Hope that was helpful!

I just have a broom now but most everyone where I live has hard floors and the moms with electric brooms don't have any trouble getting a kid to do that chore!

Lisa,
I've been through a few that were battery powered and didn't do a very good job. About 5 years ago, I bought a small Eureka EZ Clean 12 amp stick that plugs in. I keep it right in the pantry. The kids rotate kitchen chores weekly so someone uses it to vacuum the kitchen after the evening meal. I like it because it is bagless, so the canister can be emptied when needed, it has enough power to suck up the food we leave behind, and it has an extendable handle. I think I bought it at Walmart.

Here it is in action!

One of my very favorite subjects - we used the Swivel Sweeper for a while - but it does not last long (with 4 kids using) - it is cool and easy to use though - our kids used it after every meal and the end of the school day.

We just switched to the Electrolux Pronto - I like it much better. I will post a link and a picture of my 4 year old using it when I have 2 hands!!
