I finally got around to making No knead bread
It is as easy as possible and was a great family hit.
The crust was not tough as many of my attempts of crusty bread have had.
This is not a sandwich bread, but nice for dipping and warm with butter type.
Because of the long timeline I started the night before for yesterday's dinner bread.
Based on the family's response ( I can only look since I am GF) I have a feeling that I will have one on the way almost daily.

Viv, that's crazy! Do you really cook it in a pot? With a lid on?
I'll bet it was delicious...

I used our cast iron and it actually worked.
No throwing ice cubes on the floor of the oven, no spritzing and really no kneading.
The 450 deg. oven night be hard on that sailboat of yours, but if you can borrow a kitchen, you need to just heat the pot and bake for about an hour. If you made 2, someone would probably share their kitchen for the $ of one loaf.

This sounds wonderful...now I know why I've been rummaging around for our cast iron dutch ovens lately. We also have a Pyrex Visionware Dutch Oven, so I may try this with both kinds of pans just to see how they differ. We've also been using cast iron skillets and an enameled cast iron casserole for foccacia breads and they turn out wonderful! Thanks for the recipe Viv!

And providentially, we're cat-sitting this week! I wonder if she has a cast iron pot?

I've made it in a calphalon stockpot, and it is great. You can put a double recipe in the stockpot too.

I've made this bread in cast iron skillet (exceptional!) and a calphalon pot and even loaf pans (the crecipe will make one good loaf). It really is a great recipe and the longer it sits (I've left it 24+ hours) the better it seems ....
