I just thought I'd share two dresses I just finished for my daughter and my friend's daughter's first birthday.
I used the Mary De pattern and London Lawn fabric. I need alot more practice getting it all lined up.

Wow! That's impressive! I have always wanted to try it, but I am way too chicken to actually do it! I totally admire your ability and as far as I am concerned, you're a pro!
Blessings,
Betsie

Thank you for your kind comments. No, it is not hard to do, but if you don't have a pleater, you would have to find an heirloom shop or friend to pleat the fabric for you.pleater and pleated fabric here
I learned how to do this from a friend when Dh was in Iraq and I needed an outlet to keep my mind off the phone that never rang! ( One phone call 5 min every 37-45 days for 8 months can drive you batty!)
I invested in a pleater and am s-l-o-w-l-y learning how to do it myself. The first dresses here I made my friend pleated, these I pleated. The smocking is the embroidery threads on the top of the pleats. Its really a lot of fun. My patience varies when the sewing part starts. Thanks again for looking!

Beautiful job, Emily! I smocked for my girls when they were growing up and I am now smocking for my grand daughter. It's very relaxing........unless you have to rip out!!

Thank you Marcie, I agree, I think I liked it because it is so relaxing. Ripping out a row is such a pain though.
