We bought lots of gift cards for nieces and nephews this year. I didn't want to just send a card with the gift card inside, so I sent dh to look for small boxes. He reported that they were all made in China, and suggested I make some.

His idea worked wonderfully. I took old Altoids tins that I'd save (I am a complete and total pack rat) and painted them with generic white craft paint from Michael's. Then, my dd decoupaged Christmas stickers onto the top. Presto! Gift tins!

The Altoids box sides are white and the edges of the lids are red. You could paint the whole thing (my Plaid craft paints dry quickly) but I didn't bother since the existing colors matched my Christmas theme.

This would work well with any holiday or event.

(I am sorry there are no photos. My sweet dd wrapped ALL the Christmas gifts we needed to send out this week...certainly a welcome and much-needed surprise! So, by the time I thought of photos, it was a bit too late.)
