I am planning to try and have a teatime most days in Advent - I am praying for a low key, low stress time with lots of reading (can't wait for my Christmas Mosaic ) and a focus on the liturgical season. I am making up a teatime tray with a selection of teas and hot cocoas and index cards with snack ideas.
Please would you share what teas and treats you enjoy.
I am looking at the Celestial Seasonings Holiday teas (does anyone know if you need sugar/honey with them?), some Bigelow teas and the Adagio teas (do you need sugar with these?) Also peppermint hot cocoa with marshmallows, hot apple cider with melted caramels in.
I am still working on snacks - I am making a big snack mix with rice cereal, pretzels, animal crackers and maybe some Christmas MnMs or white chocolate chips.. Popcorn. Pretzels with a Hersheys kiss on put in the oven for a few minutes. Pretzels dipped in white chocolate. Also some ready make chocolate chip cookie dough from Costco. Cheese melted on crackers.

Marilyn,
I didn't know that Celestial Seasonings had Holiday teas! Thank you for mentioning this. Oooohhh... I'll have to go and check it out now.
You'll enjoy reading throughChristmas Mosaic. I just received my copy on Saturday. A number of the stories have a baking project available. I'll have to sit down and make a list of books and recipes so I have the ingredients on hand.
How about Peppermint Tea and Peppermint Hot Chocolate? I believe you can buy Peppermint tea. In the past, I've just put in crushed candy canes into the hot water and used regular tea or hot chocolate. I don't have a measurement for the crushed peppermint. I just did it to taste.

Good Earth teas - original herb blend is cinnamony spicy and doesn't need sugar.
Stash tea also has some holiday selections (just saw them at the store the other day)
My kids love "tea cookies " - vanilla wafers.

I had no idea Celestial Seasonings had holiday teas either! Thank you, thank you!
Of their regular flavors, my kids like Peppermint Herb, Madagascar Vanilla Red, Wild Berry Zinger. They like the Apple Spiced over ice but not warm. I love mixing in some peach or peppermint with my iced tea.
The easiest treat that my kids love are chocolate chips melted on graham crackers. Kind of like smores without the marshmallows.
Your ideas sound like fun and are very inspirational!

I second the Good Earth teas - they are very tasty and in my opinion don't need milk or sugar. Another tea that would be good is Chai. You can either make it yourself or buy packaged chai in a box and just pour it into a pan to heat up. I know Costco sells the boxes in a three pack.
Last year I bought some CS seasonal teas: Gingerbread (I think it would have been better with sugar), Sugar Plum Spice (good on its own) and Candy Cane (very good on its own.) I also bought Bigelow Egg Nog which definitely needed milk. It would have tasted better with sugar, but it was still very good.
This year I have been looking for the seasonal teas, but haven't found any. Are the stocked in the regular tea aisle at your grocery store, or somewhere else?
Another idea for a snack is to sample different kinds of cheese with crackers. You could either do a different cheese each day, or you could do a "taste test" with four or five and see which cheese they prefer. (This would only work with children who aren't very picky because some cheeses have a pretty distinct flavor.)

Here are all the Celestial Seasonings Holiday Teas. I've been seeing them in special holiday displays not with the regular tea section. I think the need for sugar/honey depends on the child/family.
Imprinted shortbread cookies would make a nice tea time snack. We bought some of these cookie stamps from Rycraft last year. The St. Nick and St. Lucia ones would be very nice for Advent.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Trader Joe's has this new hot chocolate mix "Sipping Chocolate" which looks really yummy. My kids are all into tea right now too - even my little 3 year old who sips from a china tea cup like he has been frequenting cafes all his life!

We have enjoyed many of the holiday teas. Some of us add honey to our holiday teas.
I just noticed the Santa and Rudolph teas. Were those out last year? Never tried those two yet.
I was just poking around the website and came across the coloring pages. Thanks for linking to the tea website Matilda and Mary. They look fun!
Blessings,

We look forward to Maria Cookies on all Marian Feast Days now.
I couldn't find a great link showing the cookie itself, but they each are inscribed with the word Maria inside an edge design, not as sweet as most cookies, they remind me of English Digestive Biscuits.
Aah! It is explained now! Goya calls them crackers, not cookies. Maria Crackers Lots of other brands out there in the Cuban/Caribbean section of our groceries and they are all very inexpensive too, a plus!
