Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'm looking at buying felt for some crafting projects with my girls and I definately want something nicer than what is available at a craft store. Is 100% wool the best or would a 70% wool/30% rayon be good for crafts? I thought the blend might be more durable, but wasn't sure. Anyone have any experience with either?
Thanks!

If you are a purist only 100% wool will do..but it is very expensive.

I have used a blend that I got from Hancocks that has been a really great compromise. It feels very nice (not scrachy and tacky like some of the others) and the colors are very visually pleasing (not harsh) The blend was also still with in the budget...I think it was 6 something a yard, but with coupons and sales I usually got it for less.

Bethany, I am in agreement - especially when looking at the prices online. I just lucked into finding a quilt fabric store that stashed a good supply of good affordable wool felt. Also, JoAnn carries some in limited colors and has that handy coupon.
There's a post about wool felt here

Also, a little goes a very long way - those variety packs from Magic Cabin would us a year or more, I would think. I bought a half a yard of green the other day for $5 and completed two separate projects with only half of that.

I am pretty much a natural fiber freak but I have to say that for many projects I actually prefer the 70/30 wool/rayon especially if you're going to have children sewing on projects too. The 100% wool can be very hard to get a needle through - especially if you are working with small pieces. The 70/30 has a nice richness but is easier to work with.

If you think you'll be doing some sewing - I would stick with the 70/30. I like getting a variety pack like the ones from Magic Cabin - lasts a long time - lots of color to inspire.
