Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Just wondering if anyone has any easy patterns to knit tiny animals. I am looking for little lambs and chicks in particular. I am thinking of rectangles or easy shapes sewn together to make simple animals. But I am not a great knitter!!! So would appreciate it very much if anyone could give me easy directions

blessings

Lion has a couple of cute patterns that are very simple. I think to access the patterns you have to register and maaaaaaybe receive their e-mailings.

they are called pocket pets and look very, very easy and cute.

I don't have any little ones -- I always do big, huggable stuffed toys -- I can't stand the fiddly little things.

Now some of the newer knitted toy books may be of some help: Knitted Toys by Zoe Moeller; World of Knitted Toys by Kath Dalmeny and Knitted Toys by Fiona McTague all have small finger puppets that you could probably make into small animals.

Hope this helps!

Magic Cabin Dolls has a book with Waldorf type patterns. The book has what you are asking for. I have the book, I cannot find it right now, however the name is something like "A Year with Children", the cover is orange and yellow. You could look on their web page and search for their books.

Here's another Waldorf-y type book about knitting that has some little knitted things, A First Book of Knitting for Children.

And here's the one Molly mentioned, The Children's Year.

Let us know what you end up doing!

Years ago I made some of the animals from The Children's Year and they turned out really cute. They are super easy to make (squares knitted in garter stitch). My oldest dd made gnomes from that book for her little brothers (who are now in college!). Again they were extremely simple to make but they were oh so adorable! The boys loved them to death.
Another good book with basically the same patterns is All Year Round.
