My children are 16mos, 3,5,7,8. The younger two have a cold right now w/a terrible wet cough.
My sister just called and 2 of her in-home day children have chicken pox, confirmed by a dr this morning. Her son (1yo) has a spot near his diaper area this morning.
Would you expose your children to the chicken pox at my children's age and circumstances? We have not had them obviously, or the vaccine (which we will not be getting). My dh had them as a junior in highschool and was very, very sick with them

not while they're sick for sure.. but the others I suppose could be exposed.. since they won't be contagious, if they get it, until a couple days before they break out in spots.. which is typically a couple weeks after exposure. What are you plans for the next couple of months.. the incubation time is long, and just because they're exposed at hte same time doesn't mean they'll get it at the same time.. you could be looking at months of this going through the family.
Also I would have on hand any antirviral I thought I could get into the kids to keep it from getting bad if I could. Elderberry, ginger are ones I know off the top of my head.. and the homeopathic Rhus Tox. is supposed to work on chickenpox as well as poinson oak/ivy.

Oh no Jenny... I'm so sorry. It's hard. My dad just recently was considered in remission from some sort of cancerous tumor in his lungs.
