Can anyone recommend some good reading on having a home birth? Has anyone read this one? There seems to be so many choices, I can't decide which one to buy.
Thanks for any help.

Maddie,
I haven't read this one, but I like Sheila Kitzinger's other books. I'm getting ready to have my fourth homebirth....37 weeks in a couple of days....and I've never even found the time read any of those great books. Let us know what you find if you liked it.
Best,
Kathleen

Maddie, I have that one, and it's GREAT! It's the one that convinced my husband so many years ago. I also have Special Delivery by Rahima Baldwin, it's a bit, um, hippy, but lots of homebirth books are, I still refer to it sometimes.

Maddie, "Homebirth" by Sheila Kitzinger was one of our favorite resources while awaiting our two home births. We actually found copies for $1 at a local bookstore and bought extras to give away. Another great resource, which we borrowed from the library, was "Birth Reborn", by Michel Odent. It's not about home birth specifically, but the concepts shared in the book, especially about the benefits of water and various ideas for squatting, are very helpful. Read and research as much as possible, and as much as you are comfortable with...it can increase your confidence and reassure you that birthing at home can be a blessed and even sacred event.
