Anyone have any experience with this? I was just diagnosed last night. I am really uncomfortable but am resting in the peace that this is temporary.
I'd love to hear others' experiences since Dr. Google is a little overwhelming at times.

My brother-in-law had this, and it passed pretty quickly. The main worry was keeping his eyes moist.

I am sorry, Ryane. I don't actually know much except that one of our sons had it at a young age, maybe 3, after a fever. It lasted a few days and then he was fine. Very disconcerting though.

The people I know who have had it had Lyme, and I would at least get tested and might even seek a clinical diagnosis regardless. It is so very high in our area, and delaying treatment can make it become chronic when it is fairly easy to treat if caught early. My friend who had it was pretty miserable, and it took several weeks to recover fully (eta but she never had any other Lyme symptoms aside from the palsy, which was a blessing). I am so sorry you are dealing with this.

Thanks, everyone. It is quite uncomfortable. My mouth feels as though I've had oral surgery (numbness) and drinking is difficult because the water dribbles out the left side. I am going to have my husband pick up straws today to see if that helps. The worst part is it being able to close the eye. I end up keeping it taped shut most of the day.
One blessing is that this came during February break week so our activities (piano, cub scouts, etc.) were all canceled anyway.
Good idea about being tested for Lyme, Lindsay. She mentioned it being a potential cause when I went to Urgent Care Monday night. I'll follow up with my regular doctor. They do say that it typically takes 1-3 months to fully recover.
Thanks again for the prayers,
Ryane

Please be sure you follow up with your doctor. When my mother had it, she actually had to go to the eye doctor to have a little bubble type protector fitted over her eye-taping it wasn't working to keep the eye moist. I am so sorry you are going through this-it was a rough couple of weeks for my mother. I will pray you get over this quickly.
