My three year old weaned from the breast last month.
My cycles had been right on for years now up until then.
This month my cycle came one and half weeks early. I am 43 years old. Is this a sign of menopause? Or is it because he weaned?
Has anyone else experienced this?

All of the above. These types of things happen from shifting hormones which both the weaning and your age would tend to indicate is happening.
The best way to know what's going on is to chart like for NFP even if you're not using NFP to postpone any pregnancies. You'll if/when you ovulate and that will help you know when your cycle will be. Or if your body is just "weirding out" from hormonal shifts.

I do chart, and I did notice my ovulation was very fast after my period. Less then a week!
I was surprised and suspected I would be getting my period again faster too.
Ugh to the hormonal shifts.
Thank you for answering.

I had a very similar thing happen when my daughter, who was 3 at the time, weaned back around February. It was right around the time I turned 40. I had about 4-5 really difficult cycles (PMS, etc.) It was so bad that I put a call into my doctor, but was never able to get in for an appt.
Then about 4 months ago I bought the vitamins Optivite (recommended by Marilyn Shannon and the Couple to Couple League). I take 3 a day, and I am having much, much better cycles. They are regular again, like they used to be, and I don't struggle with mood swings or bloating anymore.

So does that mean you were not actually going through menopause or did it just help?

Early 40's is generally considered something like "peri-menopause" you'll notice things not being the same as when you were younger, but generally vitamins or herbals and such will improve things, but you're still heading toward menopause.. premenopause is usually considered the year before cessation of cycles and then menopause is cessation of cycles. But menopause is usually nearer to 50 than to 40.
Thanks for that reminder Monica. I should probably get back onto my multi-vitamins.. easy to get lazy I've found when I'm not pregnant or nursing to make them seem more important.

I think I was just peri-menopausal, and the Optivite vitamins helped to regulate me. Really, I was amazed at the difference (and relieved, actually!)
