Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

OK - there is way too much conflicting info. out there. Really! All I want is a simple weekly workout schedule. I NEED to schedule it and know each week exactly what I will do. I did good this summer - fast walk + strength most days (I would alternate upper work out one day, lower the next, a day of no strength then start over). Fine - but school hits, colds go through the house and you know - that 1 hour 5 days per week is NOT attainable!

So, what IS the best way. How much aerobic per week (and per day) and how often strength (I have a gym in my HOA). Some say 1 hour per day of aerobic      - NO, NO , NO!

WHat I wonder - 3 days of fast walk for 1/2 hour and 2 of strength ( I am thinking 2 days - each time do lower and upper body). So, - is that ENOUGH for getting in shape cardio wise and also for bone health (I am 50 yrs)?

EIther way - I go for walk tomorrow morning!

Advice appreciated!!

anything you do is way better than not doing it.. and I'm not saying that to belittle the difficulty of figuring it out.. but rather to reassure you that you are doing something good no matter if it's optimum or not.

I'll ask a friend who's more knowledgeable next time I can.

I asked my friend and she said

Quote:
for health, 30 min. a day is just fine... I would do aerobic exercise a minimum of 3 times per week, and strength twice per week.... some video tapes combine the two into one workout and are extra time efficient

Thanks Jodie - Thats a good confirmation of what I was thinking! I plan to fast walk Saturdays, Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays
strength Tuesdays and Fridays. Also, if there is time on Saturdays or Sundays I could do strength after my walk.

Barb, my husband does both cardio and strength each time he works out (but he has 2 hours at the gym); I have limited time for exercise and go walking when I have 45 minutes or more to spare...and my husband says that's great for someone in my situation. Regular cardio is really important.

I think your schedule sounds great.
