Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I am 31wks pregnant and about two weeks ago started having awful stomach pains and vomiting 3-4 times a week.

I've had an abdominal u/s and everything looked normal except that maybe there is a very small polyp on my gallbladder. There were definitely no gallstones and the polyp is so small that they aren't even sure that it is really there.

So I've been told that the best guess at this point is that it is some sort of gallbladder issue and I should eat a low-fat diet.

But even eating less than 20g of fat/day I am still having problems and often something completely non-fat like an apple or carrot sticks sets off the attack.

Has anyone experienced anything like this? Any ideas of things that might help either prevent the attacks or ease them when they occur?

I've heard that increasing fiber in your diet will help the gallbladder clear out.. also some types of nuts and seeds can cause gallbladder attacks as well as the types of fat. I know people who've been able to not worry too much about how much fat as long as they stuck with good oils like olive oil.. no saturated fats at all I think it was.

If I remember right.. it's anti-inflammatories that help the pain of gall bladder (at least more than anything else).. you'd want to talk to your doctor about that though.. since some you won't want to be taking just before going into labor or something.

Pineapple (enzyme bromalain comes in capsules) can help with inflammation.. but I don't know how the gallbladder reacts to that.

I know for it to be low fat enough when I was on a diet for my gall bladder.. I had to stay under 20 grams a fat a day.. but over 10grams or I couldn't stop feeling hungry.. and it took a week? 2 weeks? for the diet to stabalize things.. but once I got to that point it was pretty easy to follow though I hated it.. nothing like that type of pain to motivate you not to cheat.

Sounds like what my cousin went through while pregnant. I'm sure they've checked your appendix already
