2 weeks ago my younger children had the chicken pox. Nothing traumatic, low grade temp, pox that healed nicely, sick only a 4 days or so.
Yesterday my 16 year old broke out. He had them a as a toddler, so I didn't worry about him getting the pox. He has them BAD. You can't put your finger anywhere on him without touching a pox. His eye lids are covered, he has pox in his mouth and his ears  My worry is that he is a "picker". Several of the pox on his face are getting infected. He has very sensitive skin, and scars easily.
Any ideas on how to help him? He cut his nails super short. And I have been putting polysporin on the worst of the pox.

Poor thing!
Bathing in oatmeal helped us *a little.* But I don't know if that would spread the infection on his face, and I wouldn't dunk his head anyway. Might be worth a try for his body. Calamine lotion is what has helped me most when I have severe, allergic itching. You can put cold ice packs on the worst spots too. And I read that taking an antihistamine will also help.

you can get a homeopathic "rhus tox" that is supposed to help.. but once the pox break out I'm not sure how much help it would be.

He took a bath with a few drops of lavender oil and colloidal silver. He said that helped a bit.
He is on prescription antihistamines, so I can't give him anymore of that. I switch his bedding to our "summer" bedding of silky soft cotton to help keep him cooler.
He is truly miserable, poor kid!

vitamin c helps with allergies.. maybe it would help without being an additional antihistamine?
what about aloe with lidocaine? you can get it with the sunscreen/sunburn stuff.

We've tried colloidal silver before and it didn't work for us. Glad it helped your son. When I'm really, really miserable I slather my body with a thick layer of lotion (and don't rub it in) and then lay under the ceiling fan.

Caladryl? I used it with my #3ds when he broke out. It seemed to help. It sure seems the older they are with cp, the harder it is.

No advice on the age thing, but as per the face and scarring, perhaps some of that scarring relief lotion, after the pox is gone, would help eliminate some of it? I don't remember the name, but I used it on my dds when they got stitches on their faces (under the chin, right under the nose, and on the forehead--one set of stitches per dd).
