Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I am wondering if anyone has experienced a frozen shoulder.

I thought I had a torn rotator cuff, but as it turns out the results of the mri reveal adhesive capsulitis which has left me with a frozen shoulder. I have had this problem since June and I put it off for a very long time thinking it would get better on its own.

If anyone has been through this, I would love to hear how it turned out for you. Did you have the general anesthesia and the manipulation or did you try physical therapy or the steroid shot or a combination of the above??

Hoping to hear some success stories here!

May God's grace and peace be with you,

Jill

Jill,

First, my prayers! I have not experienced this myself, but I watched my mother suffer through it. It's so very painful!

I believe my mother went through just the physical therapy and I have memories of her playing Tetris on the computer to distract herself while she stretched her shoulder.

CrunchyMom (my sister) may remember more as she's four years older and has a better memory than I do! Be sure to PM her if she doesn't catch this thread.

Prayers for a speedy recovery!!

Thank you so much, Dana, for passing along your mother's experiences.

I am comforted!

AND Thank you so much for the prayers too!

(I just noticed you live in Alabama. We do too!)

May the peace of Christ be with you,

Jill

JIll,

I had a bad frozen shoulder a few years ago. They tried to treat it first with therapy and cortisone shots, but I needed to have surgery. The surgery went well. After months of limited motion, it was so weird to be able to move my arm! I regained a full range of motion. After therapy for a few more months, I retained that and regained strength in that arm. I had an optimal result - YMMV. Some people don't regain a full range of motion again -- they only improve by 10-15 degrees in the long run or so I was told. Frozen shoulder is fairly common according to the PT I had; they usually had at least one patient with it.

Every time I make the bed and stretch out my arms, I remember and appreciate what I can do. I also enjoy being able to chop vegetables without the pain I got from the motions affecting my shoulder.

In Christ,
