Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

miscarriage? She just got married and wanted so much to get pregnant. It was very early into the pregnancy and unfortunately had to end with a D&C.
She has been kind to our famiy in the past and I'm wondering if you could help me with what we could do for her? She is back to work now.

Remembering her around her due date would be nice too. A card works wonders.

A card Telling them you are praying for them and if there is anything you could do to let you know. After my miscarriage My sil sent me a card with a footprint pin whch I still have to remind me of the baby I lost. But really that's about all anyone could do for me. Food probably would have been awkward but maybe flowers would have brightened my mood, if only for a minute. Oh, I always wanted an angel statue for my garden to remember our baby. I had plans to plant a bunch of flowers around it. One day!

A sympathy card and a restaurant gift card for a 'night out' with her hubby would be great. Tony and I got this after we lost Mary Rose and it was VERY nice for him and I to get away and not worry about money for dinner. I also received a beautiful bouquet of roses from a group of girlfriends. I pressed one of the roses and it always makes me smile!

For 3 of our miscarriages a friend has given me some sort of small gift. I have them on my dresser, along with a little card that has that child's name as a constant reminder of our little saints in Heaven. They are very special to me.
One of them, just for an idea, is simply a little carving of a butterfly on a flower. Another one is a small statue of an angel holding a baby.

I don't know if this person is a Catholic, but our priest said a special Mass for our miscarried child. That made a huge difference to me.

So often, people want the person to feel better so they act as though it were nothing. My own mom even said "well, maybe something was wrong with it" meaning the baby.    She didn't mean any harm, she was trying to make me feel better. I think it is better to acknowledge this as a loss for the person going through it, offering prayers as has been mentioned. And, if you think she would be open to hearing it, reminding her that this little child is now a saint in Heaven.

My sister in law miscarried over the summer. This was their first baby and have only been married since the spring. My husband and I went over to visit her. All I could do was answer any questions and reassure her that God is great, He has a plan for us and that now there is a special soul in heaven interceding for her. I also shared some of my journeys (esp. emotions) during my pregnancies/births.

A few days later my mother in law confided that my words meant a lot to her. We are about the same age and she really has no friends that are either married or catholic or have started families.

Sometimes sharing a little of ourselves and what makes us vulnerable and sharing how wonderful our faith can be seems to make others feel less alone, less victimized and gives them a hint of purpose and hope.

I wish we had brought over an item like others have mentioned, I think she would appreciate a momento as a memory. I think I'll take the suggestion to remember her due date.
