Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I am reading up on Dr. Brewer's twin pregnancy diet and came across a section about blood volume. He had a statement in there that said to avoid most pregnancy teas because their ingredients (nettle, alfalfa, dandelion, etc.) are all diuretics and this could negatively affect the pregnancy.

Anyone heard of this? I was about to order more, but don't want to do any harm. Should I stick to red raspberry tea? That is safe throughout pregnancy, isn't it?

Well.. there are many things that are a diuretic.. but very mild.. lemon for instance, basil, parsley, sage, etc.

And the pregnancy tea gives you several important vitamins and minerals in a very available form.

Red raspeberry leaf tea is generally considered safe throughout pregnancy. There are some that will still recommend against it in the first trimester.. but there's no research to back up that restriction.

I would have to say that it's a balance of what you need.. does the pregnancy tea help more than it hurts or vice versa.

I have never heard of anyone drinking enough fluids including pregnancy tea to be dehydrated.
