I see all these stories of people nesting near the end of pregnancy and it's never happened to me once!! I have a friend who washed the inside of her washing machine while nesting . For the past week and a half all I've done is turn into a hormonal, exhausted wreck. This is what always happens. I NEED to nest! I wanted to get meals in the freezer, yeah right . I probably need to switch everyones clothes because it will turn hot quickly here and I need to get the baby's clothes out. I'd love to really clean the house so it would be somewhat ok for a few weeks after the baby. However, on Monday I really did a lot of laundry and cleaned under the living room furniture and cushions, which exhausted me so much that Tuesday was horrible. Then, I only slept 3 hours last night which has made today not much better. Tommorrow morning I have another ultrasound and Dr. appt, then Friday we have co-op.
Does anyone else feel this way near the end or is just me? Will anything help me feel a little better?

I don't nest at the end either unless something else is making me especially nervous about the house etc. Like the time we traveled when I was 36-37 weeks pregnant.. I was absolutely determined that I would be able to come home and NOT DO ANYTHING. So before that I was a wreck trying to get everything done.
But really and mostly.. I do my nesting during 2nd trimester when I have energy and mobility and I'm not sick like in 1st trimester.
I would simply go easy on yourself now.. Rest.. you need that. If you can.. double some meals that you have to make anyway so you can put half in the freezer.. but don't try and add in extra cooking just for the freezer. Do some searching around for meals that you can have the items on hand and could direct even younger kids to make. My 8 yr old for instance is my best scrambled egg maker.

I never "nest" at all. Ever. No trimester, no time. The only reason my boys' room was painted before the first was born was because my husband didn't want a pink nursery for our son. :) With my third, my midwife asked if we had a special outfit for him at my 40 week appointment and I said I guess that is the clue that I need to find the baby clothes so he can wear something! I washed and got everything ready for him after my due date!
So no you are not the only mama that doesn't nest. ;D

Oh Bethany nesting is different for everyone ! I never prepare meals ahead ever it never even occured to me that that would be thought of as nesting I have a dh who cooks and all our children cook too even the little ones can cook . Freinds do order us pizza as well that kind of thing .
for me nesting is preparing for baby & the birth . that first special nightie & booties , recieving blanket , items for the birth , comfy clothes for me to wear during , midwife supplies , drinks I like during labour . crafts for kids during labour that sort of stuff. I clean our home the same as I always do once a week . we always have our birth bag ready with our clean sheets for the day of anyway so our room is always ready any time for a new baby to arrive .
I do absolutely nothing the 2-3 weeks before the birth but relax . that is nesting ! house cleaning for 5 hrs straight would not be nesting in my personal opinion laying on the beach is though .
I can tell you when I do have that spirt of energy though is absolutely right before labour starts ! I washed my grandmothers floor by hand the night I went into labour with dd
How far along are you ? Reemember that just before baby comes time ? When you feel like you must be part elephant and the baby will not come for another 12 months ! something must be wrong , you'll be pregnant forever feeling ! Then wham ! baby arrives ! Could you possibly be in that faze ?
I think people may just be very misinformed about the whole nesting thing definition etc.
I do have the right to speak on this by the way , mum of 6 , homebirthed 5 & granny to 1
definately been there done that stuff
Don't sweat it ! You are nesting !

Thank you all!
I think I've just reached that hormonal, tired stage that I know won't end for another 3 or 4 months . I've been wrestling with whether to have another VBAC or C-section and then spent most of the day yesterday at the Dr.'s and hospital monitoring the baby's heart rate. The past 2 sonograms it has been high, but when I get to hospital for monitoring it's fine . So I have another week full of appt's next week and realize I'll probably be having a c-section in about 4 weeks.
My oldest is also having FHC in April, so I've been working to get everything set up for that as well as for Easter, which I probably won't even be able to attend. I know it will get done one way or the other and we'll be OK even if it doesn't get done. I guess I'm just depressed by how little I do get done while pregnant and with a newborn and seeing how close my little ones are, you can see how I feel as if I haven't gotten much done in the past 8 years .
I take that back, I've given birth to 4 beautiful girls and I'm about to have another. That's a very productive 8 years!

I haven't with my last four----physically incapable. God tends to handle/communicate these matters for us....when you can't, you can't. It's a good time to turn inward, to "turn into" your baby, if you know what I mean.
Don't fret, mama (but hey: I know too well that it is almost *impossible* at this hormonal, exhausted stage!). It is frustrating, and a time of restlessness and impatience, to boot. I'll pray for all to be well!
