Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Oh, help, I'm going to skin myself alive....
Anyone ever have this? I never have before. I think this is what it is, and my midwife thinks so too, though I also have it on my ankles which seems weird. Anyway,,,,don't suppose anyone has a miracle home remedy?

Is this the one that the liver isn't able to clear out toxins as well as normal so you end up itching? or is that different?

No, that's different. I actually had a friend with that, and it did cross my mind though! This is just a rash...they don't know what causes it, it goes away when the baby is born. I've never had it before! One site even said women have been induced because it got so bad! I don't think I've gotten to that point, but I hope it doesn't last until April just the same! A couple of sites said the majority of women who have it, like 70%?, go on to have boys...isn't that odd? And we are expecting a boy. Weird!

My sister who is due this Friday had Puppp over Christmas. She was in agony. Then two weeks ago it just went away. I know this doesn't help you now but there is hope that it could possibly go away and not last the remainder of the pregnancy.

It sounds horrid. So does just treating it as a rash help? the anti-itch creams? or maybe the aloe with lidocaine you can use on sunburns? What about plain aloe? From a healthfood store you can get it without all the alcohol and preservatives and such in the ones sold with sunscreen.

I had this with my first pregnancy. I seriously thought I might lose my mind. It started around the beginning of the third trimester. It started on my stomach, but then it went to my ankles/legs, and I had it for the rest of the pregnancy. I would often scratch so much that I'd be bleeding. I still have some scars around my ankle, and it has been 10 years. Anyway, some drs. will prescribe a steroid cream, but my dr. would not. I tried OTC creams, oatmeal baths, lotion, ANYTHING, and the only thing that worked was cold compresses. I'm sure you don't want to hear this, but my case of PUPPP actually lasted for about a month afterwards. My dr. said that that rarely happens, and that generally most women get over it shortly after delivery. I went on to have 5 more pregnancies (two that went to term), and I never had it again. FYI, my child was a girl! I hope that you get over your case soon!!!!!

Andie, I'm glad you said you had it on your ankles..mine is on my ankles too. My belly, in fact, has started to improve, but I thought my ankles would drive me insane last night. If it were summer time I'd think I had chiggers or something! The only thing I've found that helps a bit is to put tons of lotion on...to a ridiculous thickness. Socks, unless they are the super low ones, are out, they are miserable. But it sounds like it can get a lot worse, so I guess I'll give thanks that it's not worse. I googled it and looked at images online, and boy, it can get a lot worse!!

I've had a mild case of this. Being around the ankles makes me think it's related to a circulation issue somehow. I definitely would need the steroidal creams...I would use them with peace if nothing brings relief---you do have to function after all.

I had it with my first pregnancy - all over. It was HORRIFIC. The only thing that made me feel better was a cool shower. We tried oils, creams, everything. I was told later that an anti-histamine might have helped, but I don't know. And I'd be a little reserved about taking anything like that during pregnancy for a long term...

The rash vanished instantly after Cat was born. Amazing.

Hope you get some relief soon!

Blessings,

Nissa
