Help! My vanity is showing! 
I have bumpy, red, itchy, oh, and did I mention dry?, skin on my face throughout pregnancies. It gets worse with each pregnancy and since this is the ninth that I've been this far in and the twelfth altogether, my face looks horrid! My OB suggested Phisoderm, but I really don't want to dry out my skin any more than it already is. Haven't tried it yet, but I'm getting desperate. Are dermatologists sympathetic to pregnant women? It clears up within a few months after the baby is born. Any suggestions?

How about red raspberry leaf.. taken internally - capsules or tea. It's an herb I use throughout pregnancy and if it's hormonal changes causing the problem it will help to normalize hormones and might stop the problem?

I have this during pregnancies also. It turns out that I have rosascea and the one thing that calmed my skin was a Metrocreme/gel. I use the creme because my skin is also so dry. Your case sounds exactly like mine. Do not put heavy creams on your face in the case of rosascea, because the heavy creams do not let the skin breath and the skin gets even more irritated because the 'heat' cannot escape. But of course, you might want to get my "diagnosis" confirmed by a professional  , but your condition sounds just so familiar.

My face gets horribly dry/itchy/bumpy at different times during pregnancy and the postpartum period. What has helped me is California Baby creams. I use the calendula or aloe vera, whichever I have on hand. And for me it is crucial that I put it on within a few minutes of getting out of the shower. For some reason if I do it at any other time my skin actually feels worse than if I hadn't done it. It only takes a couple dabs to cover the whole face so a jar while a little pricy lasts quite a while.

I use Extra Virgin Olive oil on my face after every shower because of Psoriasis. It never causes acne on me (only chocolate does ). I heard that it is the closest you can get to natural facial oils. I'll even use it between showers when needed. HTH

Turns out that my "issue" IS rosacea. The PA looked at my skin for 1/4 of a second and diagnosed it immediately. He prescribed Metrogel. I had to laugh because he said, "Stay out of the sun" as if it's been ANYTHING LIKE sunny in the past month!
Anyway, the first day I tried it, the itching almost subsided completely. Now, I just hope that the rest of the *symptoms* disappear.

Hah! Whadd I tell'ya.
The metrocream-gel really does help. I am glad that you will be getting some relief.
And don't drink any red wine. My face just burns up after one glass of red wine. Local wine is fine and maybe also organic, but otherwise there is an additive in wines made for export that just ignite the rosascea! 
(that emoticon is the color of my cheeks when I drink an italian red wine.  )
