Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Is anyone familiar with this? We had our 10 year old in for a regular eye exam, and apparently he found some deposits in one of his eyes - dursen? It is a red flag for Stargardts Disease so he referred him to a pediatric opthamologist.

Of course I googled, and it doesn't look good...seems that it is genetic and untreatable, and ultimately causes blindness. I'm trying not to stress about what has not yet come...

I haven't heard of it.. I do know there are herbal things you can do to support the eyes.. bilberry being the one I can think of off the top of my head, oh and betacarotene.

There is a woman in our Catholic Homeschool group whose daughter has this condition. I don't know much about it, but I'd be happy to give her your contact info if you needed to talk to someone.

Don’t panic, yet, Lisa. I have had deposits just show up in my ’30’s....they kept talking about macular degeneration.....I have seen a few retinal specialists.....and it is fine now, in a holding pattern. They have all insisted I probably “always” had this....but no other docs found it in previous exams in my ’20’s....sort of weird. Can you take him to peds ophthalmologist at U of M? I wasn’t sure how close you are to moving...if that is a possibility?
