Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I feel nauseated all of the time, but at least I am not actually getting sick. I find that I need to keep ultra hydrated but straight water is not for me. I do splash in some raw apple cider vinegar or a squeeze of lyme or even fresh ginger tea (hot or cold)

What else, hot or cold, do you drink to keep hydrated during the long GREEN days and nights of early pregnancy?
I am getting bored and need new ideas!

Thank you!

How about Emergen-C (and it'll give you some nutritional value too)? There are about 20 different flavors to choose from.

Well, I don't particularly *recommend* this - but I couldn't drink ANY straight water in my last few early pregnancies without feeling totally sick. The only thing I could tolerate was gatorade. Other drinks (lemonade, etc) were better than water, but with the gatorade I almost felt human.

I'm with Amy, when I'm really green gatorade is the only thing that gets me through.. though when I'm very careful to ONLY drink gatorade, it's like my body will finally reset after a week or so.. and other things will again be useable.

a tiny bit of lemon and salt I found would buffer water and make it possible to drink without adding a lot of flavor.

Juice sometimes works.. I often crave purple grape juice when pregnant

You can also dilute juice not just adding lemon or lime.. but like doing a quarter cup of grape or cranberry or orange or apple juice and then adding water.. it works if you think of it as flavored water rather than dilute juice

Jodie, you made me pucker

Gatorade here too on the really bad days. I sometimes do flavored club soda when I get bored.

what? the water with lemon and salt? when I said "a tiny bit" that's exactly what I meant.. the water tastes a bit different but if you didn't know what was in it you'd be hard pressed to figure out the added flavor. if I had to guess I'd say 1/8tsp salt in 12-16oz of water and maybe that much or a smidge more lemon.

Have you seen the bottles of Vitamin Water on your grocery store shelves? It's probably in the sports drink section. There are a variety of flavors and they contain real sugar and no preservatives. Actually, I think there is another line of Vitamin Water that is sweetened with stevia rather than sugar. I've found that a little of this mixed with some plain water really makes a difference to the taste.

I could tolerate club soda with plenty of lemon or just eating crushed ice.

oh I forgot crushed ice.. that's been one of the biggest benefits of the new fridge we got.. well not so new anymore we've had it 5 or 6 years or so.

But drinking really cold things with the crushed ice (I swallow some of the ice as I drink).. even plain water is better than less cold.. I figure I'm numbing with cold whatever in my tummy doesn't like anything during pregnancy

Propel (flavored water - made by the company that makes Gatorade) was the only thing I could tolerate during the first trimester when I was pregnant the last few times.

I agree===something carbonated. Or nonfat milk, which seemed to coat.

I'm finding club soda mixed with about half of one of those small cans of pineapple juice and lots of crushed ice to be good for cold and the tazo ginger pear tea is my choice for hot. Tried to drink diet root beer at lunch today, and gagged while trying to swallow, then choked and had to spit it in the sink...sooooo pretty.

I would be careful with diet drinks.. just so you know, even when not pregnant arificial sweeteners can upset your stomach.. so it might when you are pregnant even if it doesn't normally.. not to mention any unknowns of using it while pregnant.
