I was recently turned on to this in the midst of my first trimester woes to amazing results. My first trimester is ALWAYS extremely difficult. I have lost about 12 pounds this pregnancy and have lost over 20 pounds in other pregnancies just because I can't eat, lose what I eat or can eat only a few nibbles at a time.

So I've been drinking Alkaline water now for two weeks and I am up off the couch/bed and doing things I've never been able to do at this stage of my pregnancies. I ran out of Alkaline water yesterday and thought I would go ahead and drink our regular tap water. (I read an article that some chemist wrote, saying Alkaline was bunk) I was completely thrown and not only did I become violently sick but I was a weak wrung out mess like I usually am at this stage of the pregnancy.

I am just reeling at the difference Alkaline water has made for me this pregnancy and I am reading and researching as much as possible on it.

Does anyone else have expereince with Alkaline water, can you tell me more or point me to some good info on it? Recommend a book?

Thanks!

ETA: Sorry, I posted in the wrong forum.

Well, I had no clue what you were talking about so I went looking around at what would make something alkaline as well as what alkaline water is. It looks like it has minerals and both salt and lemon tend to make something alkaline.

Well that is exactly what helps my morning sickness. I use gatorade (it's cheap and easy to get.. and has the electrolytes) and when I can't stand the sweet.. I've been known to add salt and lemon to tap water and that works too.. not so much that it's salty or lemony.. just so that it's "buffered".

It can make a huge difference

I have read that although lemon is a citric acid it does neutralize the water to bring the acidity down. I feel like I found a "miracle" drug for my hyperemesis, my dh, who might suffer more than I do during my first trimester is so amazed at the difference.

My apologies for resurrecting this old thread, but I'm really anxious to try this.

I can not buy gatorade here, so I was wondering if someone is willing to help me by looking at the ingredients of gatorade? I have bought a sportsdrink without sugar (sugar makes my nausea much worse) and the ingredients are:

water (off course )
mineral salts:
-natriumchloride
-kaliumchloride
-calciumchloride
-magnesiumchloride
-kaliumfosfaat

It says, mineral salts at 54mg per 100 ml.

Is this comparable to gatorade?

Sure sounds like it, Ladycarobe....and also, I wonder if Vitamin Water would help as well? Now I know why I craved Grape Gatorade my whole first pregnancy.....and felt so much better when I drank it! Now doesn’t appeal to me whatsoever!! I find my kids do much better with Vitamin Water when they are sick with GI stuff, or just sick period, and prone to dehydration. Do they have VW where you live, Ladycarobe?

Thanks, 4ladsmom!

I googled Vitamine Water and apparently we have something here by Sourcy, but from what I can tell -I have never seen it- it contains loads of sugar....so I'm going to pass that .

I'm feeling pretty good today *with the sports drink*, which is scary in a different way....oh, man, early pregnancy...scared when you feel bad...scared when you don't..
