Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Anyone have this experince?

I am due any time and am having lots of contractions though that doesnt always mean a lot.

I am so sick though.

We have not had all three kids healthy since october and I havent picked up anything to bad until now!

Horrible sinus pain, horrible stuffy nose. trouble breathing.

I have been sleeping as much as possible and using my nettie pot like crazy and taking all my vitamins but this cold won't budge.

How am I going to get through labor and what about keeping the new little guy healthy?

Any ideas?

Thanks Maggie

Only prayers to offer...but my whole family had the flu when I gave birth to #3. I got it the day after he was born...but the baby never got it!

In my experience with women giving birth.......it is the rare time that a women gives birth when she is very ill from a cold or the flu......the body is amazing the way it waits for healing beofre going into labor.

Now, that being said......you may not be completely well....but you should be better!

With my fifth baby, I had lots of contractions for the three weeks before the due date......only to get pneumonia ON the due date...........and then he was born 11 days past the due date. I told God: If you put me into labor now, you can just kill me. I cannot breathe AND do labor at the same time. Thankfully, He gave me some time.

Here's hoping you are not a "rare" mom

Oh, and the majority of newborns will NOT get whatever the family has..........God is SO good!

I have nothing to offer except that a friend of mine went into labor the day she came down with a stomach virus that affected both ends of the GI tract, if you know what I mean! Prayers that you feel better pronto and that baby stays healthy!

babies get the mamas immunities. And I've also had the experience of labor waiting until I wasn't quite so sick.. though at that point he was enough past due that even labor while sick wasn't that bad a thought.. actually he waited until the first slightly overcast and "cool" day that August.

I've had two summer babies and it just amazes me how my body seems to adjust labor so that it's not in the heat.. the last one I didn't even have a/c.

I had a cold (or something) the day my son was born. I was likely no the up-side of it based on information from previous posts. I was nervous about it going in though - "I want to ENJOY my baby" I kept thinking "not fighting a cold!" But he did great, and it gave us both a great excuse to just sit in bed for 3 days (minus the ride home part).
