Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Has anyone here ever experienced fainting in pregnancy because the baby was sitting on your vegus nerve? My friend is 29 weeks pregnant and had to be rushed to the doctor today because she was showing signs of passing out. Her doc said that she had classic symptoms of passing out due to the baby or her uterus putting too much pressure on her vegus nerve. He recommended shifting positions when she feels it happening again and that some women faint almost everyday in late pregnancy because of this problem.

Anyone have any helpful hints how to keep this pregnany mommy upright?

hmm wouldn't that be more along her back? so doing the hands and knees pelvic rocking might help move things forward off of the nerve. Stay out of the recliner

I had problems with really low blood pressure when I was pregnant with the twins, and nearly passed out several times...the first time, I was lucky enough to be in the waiting area at the ob's office.

If he is sure it is her vagus nerve, cool. But low blood pressure came and went with me--it wasn't constant--just some times. And whew...

The doctors basically told me that there was really nothing I could do but lie down and prop my feet up when I felt it come on...but that they would rather me have low blood pressure than high--at least then, they knew that my veins were wiiiiiide open and the babies were getting adequate bloodflow...

Sorry she is having to deal with it.

Her blood pressure has been good. The doc told her that by putting pressure on this nerve, it was causing a drop in her blood pressure which was causing the fainting. It has only happened while sitting down so he wants her to stand and move around when she feels it coming on. I am worried about it happening while she is driving though. He did not put her on bedrest or limit her driving but told her that if she starts feeling light headed when she is on the road she has to pull over and get out and walk around. A pregnant lady walking around on the side of the highway doesn't sound very safe to me but I am a worrier. I thought maybe someone would have some suggestions. I did mention the hand and knees thing and at this point she is willing to try anything!
