Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Some kids can't keep down gatorade yet the others are famished? Not all of the kids have had this virus yet, and I know it is possible that they will not, but, I don't want to 'prime any pumps' if you know what I mean. They don't want chicken noodle soup yet again, and I can't blame them, as I could use a real hearty meal myself! The healthy ones talked me into tacos for a late lunch. How do the rest of you handle this?

p.s. - I made a big pot of oatmeal for everyone for breakfast like I usually do, and I put what I thought was half a stick of butter in it (they like it this way...) but it turned out to be a hunk of jack cheese!!    That's what a lack of sleep will do to a mama! Poor kids, the sick ones and the healthy ones!

Canned applesauce, peaches and pears, yogurt, mild crackers like Ritz, rice, buttered toast... light colored, easily digestible food.

For those that have had it, maybe sneak them some meat but meat is the hardest to digest so I wouldn't give it to those that haven't had the bug yet.

Poor Lisa. But the oatmeal/cheese story will be funny one day.

chicken dumplings! maybe without the chicken even.

no one in my house will eat any soup other than tomato, so when we have sick folks we have dumplings instead. don't remember why or how this started, but that's what we do.

toast and scrambled eggs is good

anything without *red* in it is also a good choice..

maybe mac and cheese

stuffed baked potatoes (you can control toppings)

lots of liquid (juice with any of the above?) and nothing with hard corners (crackers or such) that won't get soggy fast.. because if it does make the return trip corners hurt and red stains.. not to mention can freak out a tired mom with the red/blood connection even if it's not that.

jello is nice

We do chicken and bisquits here, and also scrambled eggs and toast. Never anything red---the first one gets sick and we eat nothing red for weeks---

Sheesh, I though I might be helpful here.

Instead I'm famished - and giggling about the cheese. I laugh because it sounds like something I would do on adequate sleep.

Bland, bland, bland. I think Bridget's reply is pretty close to what I would serve. All I would add is a ginger brew - flat. Make a couple of quarts of ginger tea with honey or agave and keep it handy for sipping - or freeze it into pops. Settles the old tummy. My auntie used to make me jasmine tea for a poorly tummy. It's strongly scented, so if that's irritating, then don't bother.

Love to you all and get better soon!

Blessings,

This is basically our list too. I also do mashed potatoes and plain, buttered pasta.
