Does anyone use any of the California Baby baby creams? Katie has very sensitive skin, and her face is so dry right now. I saw some of these at my local Publix yesterday and I was really tempted to try one....but I'm not sure if they're any good (they're pricey) and I'm not sure which one to get.
Any advice?
I saw the Calendula Cream and the Calming Botanical Moisturizing cream. Is there another product that's better? I've tried a couple of (what I though were) really gentle lotions on her cheeks and she just cries because it irritates her so.

Did you try the Burt's Bees Baby Balm? I used that on Carter when he was little.
I have not tried the California Baby lotions, we use and like some of their shampoo.

Jen - be careful - I thought these would be the solution to all our sensitive skin problems. But their blend of plant oils and fragrances irritated my sensitive skin children. If you are going to try one try the extremely sensitive one. The reviews I read made it sound like the MIRACLE product - and we were so disappointed.
I then tried Aubrey Organics which is supposed to be even purer - but they use GSE which can really irritate sensitive skin.
Burts Bees has such a very potent fragrance element which can irritate sensitive babies.
What has worked best for us is Aveeno - but only a couple of the products - the unfragranced wash and lotion.
There is an excellent article (somewhere?) I will have to find -which compares all baby products - and shows that many of the so called healthy natural things actually end up being worse for baby's skin because of potent plant oils.

I use pure coconut oil for skin miniaturization (and about a million other things). Albeit, my kids and I don't have sensitive skin but I think that it would be pretty mild. You can put it directly on the skin (just a bit oily) or put some in the water when taking a bath.

Don't know if this will help, Jen, but I always check the database at CosmeticsDatabase to find the least toxic products -- except that even the ones that are non-toxic may still contain irritating ingredients. Have you tried Vaseline?

Marilyn is right about the Burt's Bees fragrance, I don't think I was ever able to put it on my face  . We just used it on our hands.

I was also going to suggest just plain oil like coconut or even olive.

I have used olive oil too with good results. It's just a bit more "oily"!

I was also going to suggest coconut or olive oil. We cannot use Burts Bees in this house - it causes some of my kids to break out in serious hives. (I know, I know...  )

That was a very helpful website! I've been there before, but apparently forgot it...and I didn't have it bookmarked.
Aveeno was one of the lotions that really irritated Katie - and they rate a 4 on the Cosmetics Database (anything 3-6 is a moderate hazard). Burts Bees is a 4 as well (I'm a sucker for the scent of baby things - I just like them to smell like babies and not...pesto... ) but....plain ole vaseline rates a 0 hazard, as well as a few products I hadn't seen. And, I hadn't thought of just using coconut oil or olive oil - but those are both readily available to me right now! Thank you ladies for the reminder!
I think I might look into the entirePoofy Organics line. Aside from the awful name, their entire product line has a very low toxicity and irritability rating - almost all are 0.
Has anyone ever heard of them?

I do use Cosmetics Database - but several of my natural doctors, my lovely pediatrician and my one good derm have told me to be careful of the site. eg Cetaphil and Aveeno get high toxicity scores but are actually safer than a lot of products with lower scores - eg citric acid and menthol are worse than parabens for many people. eg for my dd parabens are fine for her - but she has ended up in the ER becaue of products with soy or almond oil!!!
My advice is that anyone with serious allergies should stay well clear of Cosmetics Database and natural products - because nut and plant oils can cause worse problems. Believe me - I learned the very hard way 
An alternative site is this one
Vaseline is actually one of the safest things - the site above dispels some of the myths about petroleum products and mineral oil.
Also - two of my children had severe reactions to coconut oil on their faces.
So I guess it is a personal thing - moderation and prayer needed!

I was going to say Vaseline has worked okay for my little ones.
And this can be VERY sensitive to some (so check on a back of a hand before putting a lot on) but for my 3yold who has all over eczema, pure lanolin works for her. Like I said lanolin can be a no-no for some people. But for her, it has been a saving grace!!!!!!
We use the pure 100% lanolin, I ordered online. I have bought several jars and have extra, if you want to try it, pm me and I'll mail you one. I'm going to the post office later this afternoon.

thank you so much, Kacky! I have lots. It is actually the one thing that I put on her cheeks that she didn't cry about...but it's so hard to rub lanolin on soft, squishy, impatient little cheeks.
maybe i should just be more consistent with the lanolin and give it some time to work.

Jennifer - hold the lanolin in you hands for awhile, like beeswax, to warm it up and make it easier to rub in. Or, place the tube of lanolin in a mug of hot water for a bit before you use it.

I forgot to add that the other things that have worked for my dd, but I have to be consistent, is to first put on Eucerin and then add Aquaphor. I'd do that before bedtime. It's just another barrier.

we use aveeno cream. or lotion if we run out of cream.
the wash somehow is still too drying or irritating though

Sorry if I sounded critical or impatient. Those of you who know me know that I am big "natural everything" person - it has just been so hard for us to find that in some cases the natural has actually been life-threatening. It has been so humbling to go back and find that some of the so called "toxic" products are the life savers.
Kind of like the food allergy thread going on - it was devastating for me when we found out about the kids food allergies - all the things I had been giving them as "healthy" were hurting them - fish, nuts, soy, corn, eggs etc etc

No worries, Marilyn!  Your warnings are always well placed!
I think I'm going to try to really warm the lanolin up and be more consistent in applying it and see how that does. Maybe I'll do olive oil in the mornings and lanolin at night.
She'll have a nice fleecy, come-saute'-your-onions smell.

very dry skin is like putting a cream or such on a scrapped knee.. so something that you might normally be able to use could irritate because the skin is compromised.
You might try whatever you've found works for scrapped knees 
Our current favorite, but may be a problems for others so you'd want to test it before using it over a large area etc., is Country Comfort "Baby Cream".. it's herbs and oils and beeswax.. about the consistency of vasoline.
We don't have sensitive skin here but it's nice on all the many scrapes and scratches... I've also used it on extremely dry and hurting knuckles (mine) and it doesn't sting.
Aloe is another thing that may help heal dry skin if it's something that can be tolerated. I used it when we lived in Tucson and needed something after every shower.
