Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I am sure hoping not to offer up TMI here, but this is a tenacious problem for me and I'm hoping someone might be able to offer me some hope. Does anything WORK?

My history:
Yes, it's definitely yeast, no STD's or anything else.
It's cyclical, always coming on at ovulation and remaining through the luteal phase.
This has been on/off for over a decade!
I get an instant "reaction" if I have anything sweet, including fruit, and I get itching in my ears and throat as well so this is systemic and not just vaginal.

I thought I had cured myself about 8 years ago using natural supplements and a strict diet. I have tried this again to no avail.

I have seen a conventional doc who offered a cream that worked while I was using it; two weeks later the yeast was back.

I have been seeing a ND for 7 or 8 months and again she has me on a much more regimented routine with supplements, strict diet, exercise, homeopathy, herbs to regulate my cycle. We've tried pretty much everything she has to offer short of anything controversial (she mentioned ozone blood therapy and a couple of other things but she said those are "out there" and seemed uncomfortable with proceeding in those directions.)

Has anyone successfully eradicated yeast from their bodies? Is there hope for this? Should I continue with natural therapies? Would Nystatin actually make a difference? (I've heard mixed reviews going that route.)

My particular strain is supposedly resistant to Diflucan.

Thanks for any advice - I truly believed this was something I could overcome, as I did it once before, but now I am feeling kind of beat by the fungus. :( Otherwise I do think I am healthy, I don't have diabetes, I am not overweight, I keep a good diet most of the time. I've also prayed to be cured of this, believing I will be, but still I am facing my same old problem.

I wanted to add everything that I am *already* doing just so you don't think I'm looking for free advice! :)

* Diet - almost perfect on the yeast-free/sugar-free/potato-free/you-name-it-free. I literally eat walnuts for breakfast and celery for lunch. And I've been highly compliant since April 1st.
* No coffee, but some tea (no soda or alcohol or anything like that)
* Probiotics, something powerful from my ND
* Supplements including high numbers of caprylic acid, garlic, tea tree, gentian violet, etc.
* Undecylinic acid
* Vitex and progesterone cream to try to control estrogen dominance (I have very low progesterone, though I thought rising progesterone was actually the culprit in yeast flare-ups)
* Pau d'arco tea 2x day
* exercise a few times a week
* B12 because of years of being vegan
* Calcarea as a constitutional and acute remedy

And internally ~

* Boric acid suppositories
* have tried acidophilus suppositories but they seemed not to offer any benefit
* iodine gel on affected area externally

I feel like I forgot to list something, but I wanted to show that I am clearly already doing a ton of stuff. When I initially started this program I saw a good improvement - better but not cured. But for the past 5 - 6 months I have been stuck in stasis. I'm still on the verge of getting another yeast infection, and I have had itching and burning every single day for over a year. :(

So, again, anyone battle this successfully?

A friend that has dealt with this usually suggests the scd diet ( breaking the vicious cycle ) that the way it's formulated is to heal the gut not just stop the symptoms.. and that will give you more long term recovery.. but you may still have to avoid certain things.. though she's been able to add more into her diet that she could use originally. I'm not certain how much though.

Some things to try that you didn't mention...

Cinnamon helps drug resistant yeast infections, and also can regulate blood sugars. My source recommends Cinnamon oil, 15-20 drops in 1/4 c. water 3x a day (gargle before swallowing for thrush)

Aloe vera juice

Echinacea, 1000 mg 3x day (encourages macrophages which devour yeast).

Garlic (antifungal, antibacterial). Take as tablets.

Olive leaf extract (with oleuropin)

Oregano oil, peppermint oil (enteric coated capsules) 200-400 mg. 2x a day between meals.

And my book mentions "Jatoba tincture" for use when all other herbs fail.

Standard disclaimer... I'm not a doctor, these are just remedies I've read about or are listed in my herbal healing books!

Thank you all...

How have I not heard of SCD? I've got two kids who were originally Celiac-diagnosed (now down-graded to wheat allergy), not to mention all the carb stuff that has been in the news for the past decade or so.

Lisbet/Milehimama, a few of those are included in my regimen, but I will go over the rest of the list with my ND in a few weeks when we have another appointment.

And if I do reach a state of being fully healed I will let you all know!

I just saw something in a Prevention magazine the other day about how some yeast problems are misdiagnosed when it is something else. I too suffer from years (and years ) of this problem. I'll look for the magazine later and see what I can find.

Theresa, I *feel* your tears. It is *so* frustrating. I have felt absolutely defeated at times, it is so entirely soul-crushing that I do feel like prayer is an essential part of being healed, you know?

One thing that has been a (sort-of????) silver lining is that I have more compassion now for people with more severe chronic illnesses. I mean, come on, I "just" have yeast. That is nothing compared with many other infections or diseases.

My sister has struggled over 15 years with this . She too can become extremely discouraged emotionally, spiritually. The only thing that seems to keep it down for her is a very strict no sugar, no white flour kind of diet. She also has become very thin (sometimes I'm jealous of that problem!) but it's because her stomach often feels bad.

So I, too, would love to hear of a true "cure"!!

Subbing,here!!

I am so sorry,for this very bothersome,painful,lifestyle changing problem.
I know what it's like to have to "live with something",and you try and try to do EVERYTHING you can to make it better. It can truly lead to despair. I will keep you in my prayers.

I am subbing,as just today, I was dxed with a yeast infection! To me, this came right out of the great big blue sky! I was in such disbelief, that I was very firm with the doc,that he send in my...hmm..sample,for further investigation.

I have been on the Diflucan,for 5 hrs,and am just miserable! I so feel for you!

I believe, there is something behind the yeast( I am one to ALWAYS think there is something behind everything. ) I just find it interesting, that I posted last night about going on the "no flour,no sugar" diet,to get rid of my tire around my middle. For some reason, I feel very drawn to this diet, and i am not a diet person for weight loss! I am definitely praying about this!

I will follow this thread closely,and please keep us posted!
