My dh has been suffering from dry mouth for several weeks. He was put on antibiotics for a sinus infection and the saliva "just went away" during that time. The doctor said he doesn't know why his saliva hasn't returned. Dh was tested for some syndrome but was negative. So the the doctor's best guess it that it'll return eventually. Ugh. It's hard for him to eat and swallow. He wakes up smacking his lips, so to speak, trying to wake up his mouth.

Meanwhile dh eats sour foods (grapefruits) and sucks on sour ice breaker candy to help out, and chews gum too. But I'm wondering has anyone else encountered this...any remedies???

My hair has been doing the postpartum thing of falling out lately...dh said he'd happily have his hair (ooooo, good alliteration there ) fall out if his spit would come back

You've probably already searched the internet, but just in case, I found a few links. Did your dh use antihistimines during his sickness? It looks like that causes the problem in many cases. I'm praying that his spit comes back!

does he drink lots of coffee ? I just heard this can be very dehydrating . has he been drinking lots of water ? sometimes we forget to drink enough water I get headache if I don't .

Thanks for the links...apparently he has been doing a lot of research. And he doesn't drink coffee at all, neither of us do (we don't even own a coffee maker, drives guests crazy

). He had me buy a bunch of grapefruit and citrusmint Orbit gum yesterday, that seems to get him by!
