it normalizes hormones and strengthens the uterus.. it's good for PMS and pregnancy and any other hormone fluctuations.. good for preparing for pregnancy. I believe it's high in iron so it helps with that too.

I should say that there's some conflicting information on it's use in early pregnancy (first trimester).

Some claim that because it's an emmenogoge (sp?) that it will cause miscarriage.

The flip side says that it helps the uterus function better so would help prevent preventable miscarriage and help unpreventable miscarriage work better(more efficient).

All seem to agree that it's good for pregnancy in 2nd and 3rd trimester and for birthing and recovery.

I drank it late in my pregnancy to "prepare" for birth. I plan to drink it again when I am pre-menstrual. My understanding is that it strengthens the uterus,yes. I have also heard not to drink it early in pregnancy.

My midwives have me stop RRL tea in the last trimester because they've noticed that labour can be prolonged in women who have taken it up to the end. That was also my experience.
