I need someone who is level headed and not emotionally involved to tell me when to test to see if I am pregnant. I am over 40 and haven't been pregnant in over a year and a half. I am about 2 days late. Actually on day 27 of my cycle. Really early for most people but my cycles have been 24-27 days for two years and 27 is very unusual. In addition to that fact, I have spotted at least 3 days prior to my cycle for almost 2 years and I have had NO spotting yet. So, I could be pregnant. But is it foolish to do it this early? (I am thinking getting a test tomorrow on day 28) My reason for wanting to test early is because my dr thinks I have low progesterone (why I am probably having pre-menstrual spotting) and I want to get on some progestrone asap if pregnant. What do you all think? I keep going back and forth thinking I couldn't possibly be pregnant to thinking I am crazy for testing so soon and wanting it to be true. TIA>

When I test I usually wait until after the latest my cycle has ended.. so that sounds like it should be about now for you.

And as you said it's important for you to find out asap.. so I would probably buy a 2 pack and then test right away and if negative have another to test again a few days later.

Recently I faced the same question, and I tested the day after I expected my period to start in earnest. I did have a wee bit of spotting, but I also had a temperature rise that wasn't showing any signs of dropping.

If you believe it's important to find out ASAP, then I agree with Jodi. I felt foolish too, at the time. I would get a test that specifies early detection, rather than speedy results. The speedy results test I took was negative, while the early detection test (digital readout - LOL - no need to interpret results) was firmly positive a day later.

That's exactly why I test early too. My normal day to start is day 25, so if I think I'm pg I test then. Even the dollar store tests have been ++ that early when I've been pg.

I test the day I suspect a pregnancy! I have 2 babies here right now because of early intervention and supplementation with progesterone!
