Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My husband has a pinched nerve in his neck and needs to use heat 3x's a day to help it heal. We have one of those Bed Buddy tube like heat packs, but as soon as you drape it over your neck, the heat moves to the ends of the tube and settles around the clavicle, not the neck. Can anyone recommend a better designed pack? Some are horseshoe shaped or some have divided sections so that the heat beads don't run all over the place. Something I can make would be great especially with a washable cover, but I would take website links too! Any suggestions?

I can't remember where I found the instructions, but my girls and I made some neck warmers for gifts last Christmas.

We used feed corn and filled them quite full so that plenty would be left around the neck.

We basically made long rectanglar pillows that were stuffed with the corn and then made pillowcases to put over them so they could be easily laundered (the pillowcases). The only thing I can remember being cautioned about was to microwave the corn several times for several minutes to remove any moisture remaining before stuffing the "pillows."

Our family room where our computer is stationed is quite chilly in winter and my husband used his quite a bit....and I stole time with it when he wasn't around!

I hope your husband is feeling better soon.

We have used oatmeal to make our heating pillows. Ours is the perfect size for a neck. We microwave it and it holds its heat for quite a while. It does make us hungry though, it smells real yummy.

You cannot get it wet though, or you will make yucky mush.

OK, midwife gave us the best heating pack advice ever:

a tube sock (100% cotton) filled with raw rice. Stick in the microwave to heat - just be sure it isn't too hot when you put it on.

This really holds the heat, conforms to the place you want to put it and works wonderfully!.
