Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. I'm interested in trying Aloe Vera juice, my mother has been takeing it for a few months and has seen some good effects. However I've read conflicting advice about taking it whilst pregnant. As it's possible for me to become pregnant I'm concerned about whether it's safe to start taking it now. Has anyone here taken Aloe Vere juice in these circunstances?

I just found this on a search, and it seems to be just fine for pregnancy....I found this at www.aloelife.com

Aloe vera has natural health support benefits for all individuals! Clinical Nutritionist Karen Masterson Koch and the Aloe Life team have researched aloe vera for the past 14 years to create the therapeutic line of Aloe Life aloe vera products. No other aloe vera products worldwide contain the quality, potency and freshness of our aloe vera juice extract, tableted aloe vera or personal skin care products than Aloe Life. Aloe vera is great for children, adults, seniors, pregnant women and pets! Note: Aloe Life products are safe to take with other medications or protocols.

Bumping this up here for a discussion.

I used to drink Aloe Vera juice frequently, but haven't for a couple of years now. I'd like to start drinking it again, for a some personal health reasons, for which I'm certain it would help; however, I'm breastfeeding full time with no intention on stopping.

Do any of you have any comments or advice for drinking it or not drinking it while breastfeeding?

...there seems to be much conflicting information about potential side affects.

Thoughts?

My book that usually has pretty reasonable warnings (Prescription for Nutritional Healing by Balch)says not to take Aloe Vera internally during pregnancy. You'll likely find conflicting info because using it externally while pregnant would be fine. No warnings against the use while breastfeeding.

Actions of taking it interanally does mention it acts as a laxitive.. that alone may be why you shouldn't take it while pregnant.
