Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

What is safe to take.
Honey & lemon tea is my favorite, it feels better temorarily.
Is there some over the counter relief that might help?

Kathy,
If I can find someone to go in search of my "Nursing Mother's Herbal Companion" I will look it up for you. I have a vague idea where it is.

Lots of fluids and rest will help. And take some extra Vitamin C.

Sorry you aren't feeling well.

I found that gargling with hot salt water helps. The water should be as hot as you can stand it without burning yourself, and, of course, don't swallow it.

Keep a scarf around your neck, and keep your feet warm.

Check with your doctor, but a mild analgesic might be OK (when I had severe back pain with a nursing newborn, I was allowed quite a large does of ibuprofen). Many throat lozenges have no real medicinal ingredients--some just have vitamin C, which you need anyway.
