We've got them -- thread/pinworms. I haven't yet worked out how many of us have, but certainly some.
We've had it before, and despite taking the medication and all the recommended precautions, it took AGES to shift it.
One of those suffering isn't able to take the medicine because of being pregnant -- so I was wondering if anyone knew of any natural remedies that might help?

We had the same problem- took us AGES too to get rid of it. We would think it was gone and a few months would go by and then bam it was back!
I almost always gave the medicine to all, did all the bathrooms each day, all the bedding on day 2 and three, and showers also instead of baths for a few days.
My doctor was able to give me something to take when I was pregnant- think it was Combatrin??
My prayers to you for a very quick recovery for the whole family!

I have heard that eating pumpkin seeds will rid one of pin worms. They are available this season... . You have to eat them shell and all, and they can be hard to swallow, but I know folks who swear by them.

Elizabeth,
I know of two home remedies for worms. The first is to take several drops of wormwood (artemisia) in a glass of water several times a day. The other, and I think more effective, is to take a strong cup of ginger tea 2-3 times every day. With children, you can make the tincture weaker. I take ginger to help with inflammation, and give it to my children as well. I have to tell you that it will get rid of parasites you didn't know you even had.
1T freshly grated ginger
1l water (steam distilled is excellent)
honey to taste
Bring water to the boil and pour over grated ginger in a pitcher. Steep for between 5 and 15 minutes (depending upon strength desired). Strain. Reheat by the cup and add honey to taste. Refrigerate remaining quantity. If you've made the stronger brew, you can dilute by the cup for children.
I hope you are soon feeling better!

Maybe also, being on a good pro-biotic capsule, taking it every day. Worms don't like to live in a real healthy bowel environment and so optimal levels of good intestinal bacteria and worms just don't mix.
