anyone know what would cause shorter and lighter periods? Since my miscarriage in Jan., I have had shorter (about 5 days compared to 7) and lighter periods (only 1 day heavy compared to 3). I am wondering because I would love to have another baby but I am wondering if this could possibly be a problem for getting and maintaining pregnancy? I have a history of miscarriage, probably due to low progesterone. Anyone know?

Lisa,
I don't know why it is happening in your case, but my periods have gotten shorter and lighter progressively after each baby. They sound about the same as yours. I used to be knocked out at least a day or two from heavy bleeding and pain. I haven't had trouble conceiving and I have never miscarried, so I don't know if there is any correlation. I just assumed that it was something that happened as you had more babies.

I have had a history of miscarriage...I had three in a row in the past year and one about 3 years ago.

I have found though that my periods got heavier and longer after my babies, opposite of Molly. However, now after this run of miscarriages, they have become shorter (instead of 7-9 days, they are 4-5 days) and not as heavy (instead of 3 or more days of heavy heavy, it's become 1-2 days and still not as heavy).

I had a D&C with each of these past three miscarriages. I know that D&Cs are recommended in some cases for women with really heavy/long periods. It's sort of like a "reset"...bad wording, but you KWIM. Anyways...Lisa did you have a D&C? Maybe it's from that. Or maybe it is just from having the miscarriage naturally. My first miscarriage 3 years ago was natural but I only had one period after it before I got pregnant again and delivered our 6th child...so I don't remember it (which may point to it being more lighter than heavier).

Anyways...I have wondered how they could correlate to fertility and ability to carry to term and all. But since I haven't been able to carry to term after the longer/heavier periods and/or these lighter/shorter ones...I'm chalking it up to the doesn't matter category. But that's just me...it could mean something for you.

Boy...that probably wasn't very helpful...just long!
