I have been teaching DS1 since last fall. DS2 will be two next month and has been showing a lot of interest in his older brother's schooling for the last couple of months. (So much so that I have started to do the bulk of DS1's schooling during DS2's nap time. )

I have started to do a few things with DS2 like flashcards/lace cards and he really enjoys them. I was thinking that I might start a more structured school time for him and see how he likes it but at the same time worry that he might be too young. (I am still so very new to all of this. ) I (and DH) have been teaching him some simple prayers and Saints - he loves that!

Does anyone have any experience or ideas they wouldn't mind sharing with me? Thank you and God bless!

I wouldn't do anything with one that young that I wouldn't do if I was planning on sending them to school etc. Mostly I would have fun things for them to do along with the older sibling (that's half or more of the interest around here usually) and read lots of good books together.

But I wouldn't have any time that they couldn't just get up and walk away from either.

Yes, you can definitely start to do more fun/learning activities with him; it doesn't have to be too structured. I wouldn't do much in the way of math or language yet (other than things like number or letter puzzles, etc.) and I wouldn't make it a set amount of time.

But, there are tons of fun activities for this age: scooping objects from one container to another, puzzles, art activities (coloring, clay, gluing), stringing beads, polishing spoons with a cloth - it goes on and on. You can check out For Small Hands for lots of great ideas.
