Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I went through some boxes of old books at my parents house yesterday. I found The Family Treasury of Children's Stories Books One through Three! Book one has Mother Goose, rhymes, stories, poetry. It includes everything from pat-a-cake to The Little Engine that Could, The Velveteen Rabbit, Winnie-the-Pooh, Hans Christian Andersen, Robert Louis Stevensen, etc. Book two has fairy tales, various fun stories, fables and folk tales that include all the Aesop's fables, King Arthur, Robin Hood, and Greek and Roman mythology. Book three has stories like The Call of the Wild, The Night the Bell Fell, Joan of Arc, Paul Revere, Daniel Boone, Thomas Jefferson, Abe Lincoln, Madame Curie, other random stories, Shakespeare, and excerpts from Robinson Crusoe, David Copperfield, Mark Twain novels, and other classics. There are very few pictures in them, and the books are in rough shape. I need to find some good covers to help preserve them. They have that "old book smell" as well!

I also found a beautiful picture book of the seasons that was mine when I was a child. It's The Four Seasons for Little People by Josep M. Parramon. It's illustrated by Ulises Wensel, Asun Balsola, and Carme sole Vendress. The front says Spring Summer Autumn Winter, and some of the illustrations are beautiful! The artwork for each season is different.

I also found the original Winnie-the-Pooh and beautiful Beatrix Potter picture books, but they have my brother's name in them, so I'm going to return those to him before I become too attached!

You found buried treasure! I often wonder what happened to some of the picture books I had as a child. Your brother is lucky to have such a nice sister.... the BP books would be so hard to give up!

If you don't care for that "old book smell," ~ many people actually have allergic reactions to it ~ try sealing it in a ziploc with a dryer sheet or two tucked between pages.

And kudos to you for not keeping the Beatrix Potter!
