Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

In a perfect world, this would be our Preschool/K curriculum.

Letters: I Can Find Letter Sounds, Movable Alphabet

Math: I Can Find Numbers and Shapes, Anno's Counting Book, My First Numbers Book,Red Letter/ Blue Number Book

Religion: Saving Name of God The Son, Manners in God's House, My Jesus and I, Francis the Poor Man of Assisi, Small Acts of Kindness, Little Book of Saints v.1, Catholic Children's Treasure Box set 1, Kindergarten Catechism

Nature: Butterfly Garden, Ant Farm, Ant Cities,Box Turtle, Lady Bug, Little Black Ant, The Year at Maple Hill Farm, Usborne First Encyclopedia of Our World, School of the Woods, Waiting for Winter

Poetry: The Harp and Laurel Wreath, Mother Goose, A Child's Garden of Verses

Story time: Aesop's Fables for Young Children, Beatrix Potter, Thomas the Tank Engine, Choo Choo, Make Way for Ducklings, Blueberries for Sal, The Little House, Hans Christian Andersen, Children's Book of Virtues, Stone Soup, Velveteen Rabbit

Music: MMPT, Songs of Praise, Good Morning, Jesus, Gregorian Chant for Kids

Geography: Let There Be Llamas, Nights of the World

I'm having a difficult time prioritizing our list! I'll also need craft supplies, my 6 books on philosophies of education, Catholic Mosaic, a Douey Rheims Bible, a new piece of furniture to store the books and supplies, and a printer/scanner/copier. I have quite a summer of reading, prioritizing, and planning ahead of me, but I'm looking forward to it!

What a lovely list!

Does your library have any of these books? Or perhaps a friend you can borrow from? Or swap boards or Abe Books to purchase from?

It is lovely! That's why I'm having such a difficult time eliminating items! We don't have any of these books yet, so I am hoping I can borrow some from friends. I have not checked the library yet, but will once it's time to order our supplies. There is a used curriculum store I'm currently stalking for these or similar titles.

I agree that is a lovely list. And I think once you start in on it, you will get a real sense of what works best with your dc and what they like. With such a great base, you can't go wrong. I am sure that your library will have many of those titles.

I also use my summers to check the library via their on line catalog to see what they have, and what I will need to buy. If the library has it, I don't buy it right away- I'm always amazed at what the kids like and don't like.

Don't forget to consider things that will help you prioritize.. like doing nature during the warmer months let's you get outside in it. And you could use one of the others.. perhaps the geography for the colder months when you want to be inside.

My question might need to be in the Planning and Ordering Our Days category ....

However JaysFamily, how do you plan on structuring your day(s) with everything you listed?

For example, we will be doing SSRW this coming school year 3 days/week. However, I would love to add in some religion.

We tend to do craft activites, reading, and math every day just in our everyday activities; and with spring and summer upon us, we will be outside a whole lot more.

What's SSRW?

I plan to follow the Mater Amabilis Prep guidelines. Our days sound similar to yours, but I need to add in more to keep him occupied and entertained. I wasn't raised in a home that taught Catechism, so I would like a more structured approach to teaching the faith.

First, I want to say welcome to you, Jaysfamily!!

I'm just getting a chance to take a look at your awesome list!    LOVE IT!!!!

In fact, it looks an awful lot like mine!!!

Some of the books you'll probably have to purchase new (the Neumann Press ones come to mind), but many you can borrow from the library or find for next to nothing used. Work on your list to see what you'd have to find NEW, and break it down further by making a library list. I bet you can make your list very manageable that way!

Also, check with your local homeschool group and ask around letting folks know what kind of materials you're looking for - both books and shelves, printers, etc. This time of year EVERYONE is making room in their homes and on their shelves and you might find yourself in the fortunate position of being able to take some things off someone's hands. Check Craigslist for furniture and appliance (printer) deals! I've had great luck with Craigslist! And, don't forget to start checking your local thrift/goodwill. Many times I can find something there that I can be creative with - think outside the box!!!

What a great year you have on paper so far!!! Sounds absolutely DELIGHTFUL!!!

I didn't realize you were a mod here until I joined last week, but I've been reading your blog for a couple of months! It was recommended to me by some friends in my mother's ministry.

I've been browsing the CHC and Seton catalogs, the Catholic Mosaic lists, Mater Amabilis, Love2Learn, your blog etc., and tried to focus on the books they all had in common. I'll have a better idea of what works for us after I've learned more about the different philosophies, have tried a variety of materials, and have followed the suggestions here. I'm stopping by a local homeschooling co-op in a couple of weeks, and hope to find some materials from families that have outgrown them. I'm sure God will make available whatever materials He intends us to have!
